Adelaide Casino revamp set to be showcased from November 28
SkyCity Entertainment’s Adelaide Casino redevelopment is gathering momentum as anticipation grows ahead of its November 28 reopening.
The Australian reports that the 12-level building will be complemented by a new five-star, 120-room hotel, Eos by SkyCity, which opens to the public on December 1, followed by new conference and events spaces next year.
South Australia has been benefiting from an influx of interstate tourists, with operators such as Adelaide-based Sealink reporting solid bookings.
Sealink acting chairman Jeff Ellison said ferry and accommodation services to Kangaroo Island in particular were strong.
In the Barossa, luxury operators such as the five-star Louise hotel are substantially booked out, despite charging $595 for entry level suites.
SlyCity said the four new restaurants and two new bars it is about to open will reshape Adelaide’s dining scene, with all-new venues to have access to a 7500-bottle master cellar, with a focus on South Australian wines.
South Australian Premier Steven Marshall said the expansion would be a tourism drawcard for the state.
“We are really looking forward to the opening of these new restaurants and hotel because it will give more reasons for people to visit Adelaide and our regions, to experience our world-class food, wine and hospitality.”
SkyCity Adelaide general manager David Christian said the $330 million new hotel, and precinct would not only help to transform the industry, but also employ 700 staff.
The hotel will offer guests post-flight treatments, personal training and an on-call bartender providing an in-room cocktail service.
Chefs would be on hand to prepare any meal upon request.
Other new hotels that have recently opened in Adelaide include the 138-room The Oval hotel, set right on the Adelaide Oval.
SkyCity reveals more about its Adelaide casino redevelopment
SkyCity Entertainment Group has revealed details of its much anticipated Adelaide Casino redevelopment, which is set to include Australia’s first brewery in a casino.
Casino Beats reported in early November that the redevelopment, dubbed The District, is a “key pillar” of the group’s ongoing $330 million Adelaide transformation, which hopes to develop a “world class” integrated casino and entertainment precinct.
The District hopes to bring together all venues on level one in the current Heritage Building, incorporating a poker zone, sports bar, the Pirate Life microbrewery, live entertainment and bistro.
The District venue manager Jarrad Anderson said: “Aussies have always had a strong affiliation with good beer and places to drink it…live music, great food and watching sport is also part of our culture. Being able to find it all under one roof is our point of difference.”
The District at SkyCity will feature a mezzanine level, allowing increased capacity for live entertainment, where customers can enjoy Pirate Life beers tailor made for the venue.
Pirate Life was founded in Adelaide in 2014 by Michael Cameron, Jack Cameron and Jared Proudfoot.
Proudfoot, Pirate Life co-founder and brewing director, said there’s a lot to be excited about as the first series of Pirate Life beers made exclusively for The District are introduced.
“Our first brew is the District Draught, brewed with Pale and Munich Malt, the District Draught is fresh, familiar and ready to session,” he commented.
“A hop free boil means ultra-low bitterness, with notes of citrus. It pours golden straw, with a generous pillow of foam. Expect aromas biscuit malt and nashi pear, with subtle notes of lime. The palate is malty, with a mild body and a clean, moreish finish.”
Other significant transformation works undertaken in the Heritage Building include a repaininting of the Marble Hall for the first time since the Adelaide Casino opened in 1985 and refurbishment and extension of the Baccarat Pavilion.
