SkyCity Adelaide and Business Events Australia have teamed up to launch a virtual tour of Events at SkyCity, offering event organisers across Australia and the world the chance to take a close look at the venue’s offerings and encourage people to hold their events in Adelaide.

Australasian Leisure Management reports that SkyCity Adelaide officially opened its $330 million integrated entertainment establishment in late 2020, with Events at SkyCity opening in February.

This project was supported by Tourism Australia’s domestic business events marketing partnership initiative, the Business Events Boost Program.

In its first seven months open to the public, Events at SkyCity has hosted 115 events that have collectively resulted in more than 15,000 attendees visiting SkyCity.

Recently, Events at SKyCity welcomed AHICE, the world’s largest hotels conference post-COVID, for day 1 of their conference: Design Inn.

SkyCity Adelaide’s versatile event and meeting spaces cater for all occasions, from glamorous gala dinners to conferences, corporate meetings and personal celebrations.

The SkyCity ballroom has a footprint of more than 600 square metres, with a breathtaking river view backdrop.

SkyCity expansion offers new business opportunities

SkyCity Australia’s chief operating officer David Christian said that SkyCity’s offerings, paired with South Australia’s safe, clean and vibrant location, make it a clear leader for conferences and events and noted: “Events at SkyCity has a firm focus on the finest and fresher locally sourced restaurant quality fare, delivered by a broad range of speciality chefs.

“We also offer seamless state of the art technology, 5-star service and stunning views of Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct.

“SkyCity is located right in the heart of the city, with a transport network including the Adelaide Railway Station literally on our doorstep.

“South Australia is easily accessible from all Australian capital cities, with Adelaide Airport just 20 minutes away.”

The expansion and refurbishment of SkyCity Adelaide not only offers conference facilities, but more broadly features Adelaide’s most luxurious 5-star hotel.

Eos by SkyCity, a gamut of new signature restaurants and bars, as well as expanded gaming, VIP and high roller benefits.

SkyCity has appointed John Ryan to the new role of Director of Sales at Eos by SkyCity and Events at SkyCity.

Ryan joins SkyCity from Crowne Plaza, where he was most recently Director of Sales and Marketing.

SkyCity Adelaide refurb details revealed

The $330 million expansion and complete refurbishment of the heritage building sees the modern establishment featuring Eos by SkyCity, a five-star luxury hotel, four new restaurants and two new bars.

Opened in December 2020, and boasting 270-degree views of the city, Adelaide Hills, River Torrens and coast, SkyCity delivers an impressive South Australian tourism experience with South Australian Premier Steven Marshall noting “there is no doubt the new SkyCity is going to be a huge drawcard for our state.”

SkyCity Adelaide general manager David Christian advised that as one of the state’s largest private employers, he’s excited about the future and the role SkyCity will play in supporting tourism, local artisans and jobs for South Australians.

Christian said when SkyCity designed the new Adelaide complex, it had tourism and catering to local South Australian producers and suppliers at the front of their mind.

“I feel a sense of pride in what SkyCity has achieved since taking ownership 20 years ago,” Christian said.

“In just the past 12 months, SkyCity Adelaide has supported more than 700 local suppliers and employed an extra 500 staff, as well as producing 1000 construction jobs for the duration of the project.”

The Adelaide casino has been an important part of South Australia’s fabric since it opened in December 1985, when Premier John Bannon launched the building with a game of two-up to mark the opening of South Australia’s first casino.

At a cost of $30 million, Adelaide’s grand railway station was revolutionised.

Fast forward to July 2017 and SkyCity committed $330 million to proceed with plans to expand on the Festival Plaza and form part of the rejuvenation of the Riverbank Precinct, surrounded by the iconic revamped Adelaide Oval, Festival Centre and Convention Centre.

Eos by SkyCity, as well as the broader SkyCity expansion project, showcases more than $900,000 worth of local artwork.
